What is Guarana?

Guarana (Paullinia Cupana) is a shrub belonging to the Sapindaceae family, on which an orange-red, sometimes dark yellow fruit grows.

In herbal medicine and traditional medicine, it is customary to use the seed of the fruit. In this seed there are high concentrations of guaranine, among the highest in the world.

Guarana is rich in guaranine, but also in multiple active ingredients: polysaccharides, tannins and mineral salts. There are also multiple vitamins, essential fatty acids and alkaloids.

It has very powerful revitalizing and energizing effects. Among the many health benefits of guarana, this plant promotes weight loss due to its effects on fat.

This plant is used throughout the world to combat fatigue, but also to improve sports performance, among other things.

Origin and method of manufacture

Guarana is a plant native to the Amazon.

Our organic Guarana is native to northern Brazil, and it is one of the few to come from wild strains of the plant. As with the rest of our food supplements, it is manufactured, packaged and controlled in France, in an ISO 22000 and GMP certified laboratory.

To make these food supplements, we use the fruits of the shrub, and more precisely their seeds. Dried, then reduced to powder, they are a real concentrate of active ingredients, particularly guaranine.

It is above all the action of this molecule that is sought after: it is very similar to caffeine, but its action is quite different and remains more prolonged over time.

Dosage

Guarana as a food supplement is taken occasionally, to combat temporary fatigue, or continuously. This may be the case during a dietary rebalancing, for example.

The dosage is as follows: take six capsules of Guarana during the day, divided between morning and midday.

Due to its guaranine content and its stimulating effects, you should avoid taking it in the evening: there is a risk of disruption of falling asleep and sleeping if taken late.

The duration of a treatment should not exceed four to six weeks.

Also respect a sufficient break time between two treatments (two weeks minimum).

Contraindications and adverse effects

Contraindications

The consumption of Guarana is not recommended for pregnant women. Seek advice from a doctor in the event of medical treatment.

Contraindications may exist for people hypersensitive to caffeine or suffering from high blood pressure as well as heart disease. The same goes for people suffering from gastric ulcers and anxiety disorders.

Side and/or undesirable effects

Overly prolonged treatments can cause addiction, just like coffee. For this reason, cures must be controlled and limited in time.

Side effects may also appear such as agitation, heart palpitations, stomach irritation or insomnia.

In high doses, consumption of Guarana can cause nausea and vomiting, headaches, confusion, nervousness or even dizziness. To avoid these inconveniences, respect the recommended doses.
